Hi
Behind the food blog Amour de Cuisine is Soulef Zaoui, née Latreche, a mother of three living in England.
It all began in 2007, when I discovered cooking blogs and online forums where people could share their little know-how.
Cooking wasn’t my favorite pastime when I was younger—my studies always came first.
I pursued university studies at the University of Sétif in Algeria, then at Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, where I completed my master’s thesis in Industrial Chemistry – Chemical Engineering. Nothing could stop me from going further and feeding this passion for chemistry and discovery.
But after getting married and moving to England, I faced a few obstacles in pursuing that dream…
Then the arrival of my first baby completely changed my path.
Motherhood opened my eyes to another world, and the joy of pleasing my little family became the outlet for my creativity and curiosity.
My passion for chemistry never left me—I simply became a chemist in my kitchen, exploring new spices, discovering world cuisines, and sharing the flavors of my homeland, Algeria.
At first, it was just the desire to learn new recipes and showcase the dishes of my mother and grandmother.
Later, it grew into a true love and passion for food photography.
To this day, I keep challenging myself to do better and go further…
My commitment to my readers is to provide carefully developed recipes.
Each ingredient is thoughtfully chosen, and every step is explained clearly and concisely.
I encourage the Amour de Cuisine community to ask questions, share their trials and experiences.
Comments and feedback on the blog are always welcome—whether positive or negative, they help make the content even better.
