Description

Fig chutney is the perfect condiment to serve with savory dishes or a cheese board. Easy to prepare, it brings out the full richness of the fruit in a soft, fragrant texture that adds a unique and flavorful touch to any meal.


Ingredients

  • 80 g brown sugar
  • 120 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 400 g figs (fresh or frozen)
  • 50 g apple, diced
  • 1 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 60 g raisins
  • ⅓ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg


Instructions

  • Soak the raisins in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes, then drain.

  • In a saucepan, melt the sugar with the vinegar over low heat.

  • Add the figs, apple, onion, drained raisins, salt, and spices (ginger, cloves, nutmeg).

  • Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring frequently.

  • Transfer the chutney into a sterilized jar while still hot, seal, and let cool before storing.
