Fig chutney is the perfect condiment to serve with savory dishes or a cheese board. Easy to prepare, it brings out the full richness of the fruit in a soft, fragrant texture that adds a unique and flavorful touch to any meal.
Ingredients
- 80 g brown sugar
- 120 ml apple cider vinegar
- 400 g figs (fresh or frozen)
- 50 g apple, diced
- 1 small white onion, finely chopped
- 60 g raisins
- ⅓ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions

Soak the raisins in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes, then drain.

In a saucepan, melt the sugar with the vinegar over low heat.

Add the figs, apple, onion, drained raisins, salt, and spices (ginger, cloves, nutmeg).

Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring frequently.

Transfer the chutney into a sterilized jar while still hot, seal, and let cool before storing.
